Thai Community Development Center (Thai CDC), a community development non-profit organization since 1994, facilitated the designation of the one and only Thai Town in the world located in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and founded the Thai New Year's Day Songkran Festival. Thai CDC aims to create a thriving community by creating businesses and jobs, providing small business training and development, revitalizing public spaces and holding cultural events to enhance the community. Thai CDC also serves economically disadvantaged populations by developing affordable housing, providing various health and social services and empowering immigrants, low-wage workers, and victims of human trafficking. In fact, the infamous El Monte Slavery Case, the first case of modern day slavery in the United States was vigorously fought by Thai CDC and our human rights allies until justice was achieved for the victims.
