The LA Curry Festival (click here to learn more Curry Festival 2009) owes it origins to the popular Thai New Years' Day Songkran

Festival in Los Angeles, which was founded in 2004 through a collaboration between the Thai Community Development Center,

the Royal Thai Consulate, the Thai Health and Information Services, and the Thai Community Arts and Cultural Center.  Today,

the collaboration is now known as the Thai New Year's Day Committee.

The Thai New Year's Day Songkran Festival in Los Angeles is the largest and

the most popular Thai celebration outside of Thailand.  The participants are

always amazed by the beautiful parade, the world largest Pad Thai noodle

demonstration, Thai classical dances, music, and more.  In 2008, Thai CDC

and the Thai New Year's Day Committee dedicated a section of the Thai

New Year’s Day Songkran Festival to CURRY, one of the most prevailing

ingredients people could find in Thai dishes.  But since other countries also

have very unique and tasty curries, this section was not just for Thai curry

to shine, but also for curries from around the world to be revered.  In

2008, the LA Curry Festival and the Thai New Year's Day Songkran

Festival attracted more than 100,000 visitors.
